The students of MERI of CSR Club, along with our mentors, visited the old age home at DELHI.

It was the first time we had visited an old age home. When we reached there some of the inmates were standing near the gate with smiling faces to welcome us all. When we reached inside the building, we saw that all the elderly folk were sitting in a room – waiting eagerly for us.

Club members contributed both physically and psychologically by playing games. We sang and danced with them to elevate their hearts laden with agonies of separation and isolation. The people there enjoyed our performance and praised us. We took them down the sepia days of their young days when we started our game of antakshari.

It was indeed a great thing to see them participating in it with vigor and enthusiasm. We would have never ended our game if the teachers wouldn’t have told us that it was time to go. Our class teachers gifted to them sweets and roses. We realised that money does not make a man happy,and my decision was that I would never allow my parents to undergo such mental torture,even if I have to sacrifice a lot of my resources,time and comfort.

One of the elders addressed us and even invited us to visit them over again. Though we could only spend a short time with them, it has left a lasting impression on our minds. We don’t know whether these senior citizens were happy or sad, living the winter of their lives in the old age home instead of being with their children, but we had a feeling of hollowness in our heart when we left.

I feel the moment we consider our parents a burden in their old age we have no right to exist. The number of old age homes in India is increasing day by day.

Isn’t it unfair to that mother, who gave birth to you, to treat like this? Isn’t it wrong to throw your father out of their homes?

All of us will have to pass through this phase one day,how will we feel if our children also treat us the same way. We must take care of our parents and our grandparents because they need us at this age,as we needed them when we were helpless. If they would have abandoned us when we were small and given up all their duties,we wouldn’t have been here enjoying our lives. If we will not take care of our parents who will take care of them? It was learning experience for us. The event was a success and we hope to visit again.

MERI CSR Club AAGHAZ organized a Plantation Drive on 08 Sept, 2018. We are proud to share that our students & faculty enthusiastically participated in plantation activity at D-Block, Institutional Area, Janak puri.

We have successfully planted more than 40 trees. Once again a successful drive called “GREEN DRIVE” . Great effort by all the CSRAAGHAZ Club Members

A blood donation camp was organized by MANAGEMENT EDUCATION & RESEARCH INSTITUTE(MERI), CSR Club Aaghaz on 30th January 2018.

A team of 12 doctors and nurses of AIIMS came for collection of blood. The activity of blood donation was started by faculty of MERI & volunteers of MERI CSR Aaghaz thereafter other donors joined the event.

The main aim of the event was to create awareness among students about the donation of blood and how it can help other person in need. Students from MBA, BBA and MCA participated. 90 units of blood was donated by various donors including faculty and students .

Club members both physically and mentally had participated in the blood donation camp, we would like to acknowledge the contribution made by Mrs. Deepshikha Kalra and Mrs. Maitri for guiding and helping us to organise the event.

Students Of CSR Club raised funds for Kerala Disaster By organising a PUB G mobile game completion and were able to collect more than ten thousand rupees which they donated to kerala relief fund

Students visited the slum area of Chander vihar, Delhi  for a literacy drive where they motivated the parents of young kids for getting their children admitted to the Gyaneshwari school in their area which is managed by a NGO, Seed Trust India Ltd. Parents discussed their problems , which were resolved by our students and finally few parents agreed for admission.

“Khelo Holi Naturally” – Holi, the most colourful time of the year; marks the end of the winter gloom and rejoices in the bloom of the spring time. While markets flood with commercialized toxic Holi colours of every hue, MERI encouraged the use of Organic Colours that are made naturally from flowers and nature’s products like sandal and turmeric by initiating ‘Safe Holi’ at the Campus on March 15h, 2017, keeping intact the gaiety and glamour of the festival.

The drive begins from our college MERI itself on 1st Oct 2017 ,the whole team of CSR divided in various groups floor wise and started working on our mission.5 batches were formed one for basement ,ground floor, 1st floor, 2nd floor and for the 3rd floor. Members were allotted their duties. They along with house keeping staff cleaned faculty room, Accounts Department,PS to DG room, helped faculty members with arranging their things. They  helped Accounts Department  in arranging their files and records by tagging . They presented a Skit in order to create awareness among  students about the importance of cleanliness in surrounding. The purpose was to generate awareness in the college premises regarding the need for hygiene. The drive ended by enlightening the spark of SWACH BHARAT ABHIYAN in our minds.

As a part of CSR activity Students decided to visit an orphanage, Holy Child at Mahaveer Nagar, Delhi. They distributed  food blankets, drawing books, crayons, pencils etc. They were ecstatic to have food from outside and were even more elated when they received the stationary. The Volunteers conducted various activities of origami, passing the parcel and talent show in order to make them feel comfortable and finally  they talked individually to everyone. The event was a success and we hope to visit again.

From wasteland to paradise in ten years, Vasant Vihar’s biodiversity park has become a sanctuary for rare flora and fauna. The morning marked a day filled with joy, laughter & knowledge strengthened the bond between us and nature, but importantly between students and teachers. The Aravalli Biodiversity Park in Vasant Kunj was not only a fun-filled excursion but also an opportunity to enliven our sense of belongingness to the environment.

While I burn away the sins of this year in the holy light of a Diya and paint this town red with cheer, Diwali is the beacon of sharing joys and celebrating new beginnings.” The volunteers of Aaghaz this year celebrated Diwali with girls at orphanage by distributing new clothes, sweets and conducting a Rangoli and Diya painting Competition to nurture their Talents

“A Healthy mind Stays in a Healthy Body” keeping this in Mind The CSR Club Aaghaz conducted the Marathon – “Run for Clean Delhi Green Delhi “of 5km & 7.5 Km at Rajiv Chowk, CP, New Delhi along with NDMC and Delhi Police the event was sponsored by Shri Shyam Tiles & Kachroo Buildcon, Prof. Anil Dattatraya Sahasrabudh, Chairman AICTE was the Cheif Guest of the Day Arond 400-500 Fitness Freaks Participated in the Event. Students Delivered their Dance Performances and the Live Music by our students motivated the participants and finally the voice of Delhi Mr Gaurav Kumar created excitement among the audiences. The event was a great success.
